Position Summary:

This position's specific focus is to assist the Facilities Management Director with all aspects of managing and supervising the department. This could include supervising daily building maintenance work, special project oversight, coordinating work orders throughout various stages of the process, procuring supplies and equipment, organizing and maintaining department records and files, and/or performing some maintenance technician duties as required. This position is also responsible for coordinating all after-hours response, coordinating inclement weather response, event management/support, and any other necessary support. In the absence of the director, this position fills in that vacancy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide oversight for daily building maintenance operations.

Specific trade/employee supervision.

Work order acceptance, assignment, tracking, and closure.

General oversight of maintenance work in any ATU owned property, building, or other physical structure.

Provide oversight and planning for maintenance employee organization, performance review, termination or other disciplinary actions as needed.

Provide oversight for maintenance work performed in Auxiliary areas.

Coordinate regular meetings with key campus stakeholders.

Ensure FAMA shop cleanliness and safe working environment.

Communicate outages with appropriate campus community members.

Ensure outages/disruptions are communicated promptly to those that are affected.

Act as a liaison between the maintenance team and other members of the FAMA administrative staff.

Communicate with FAMA's construction manager, custodial director, occupational safety coordinator, and energy manager to ensure continuity of operation.

"Cascade" any information reported in FAMA team meetings, or other ATU campus meetings.

Assist the director in planning, implementing, administrating, coordinating, and monitoring the day-to-day operation of the Facilities Management department/office.

Manage all aspects of the FAMA warehouse.

Cleanliness, storage efficiency, and safety.

Assist the Director in planning annual operating and capital purchase budgets.

Regularly inspect campus buildings and facilities to identify needed maintenance and repair work

Confer regularly with immediate supervisor, other FAMA staff, and other university personnel to plan and coordinate activities, exchange information and solve problems.

Deal regularly with outside vendors and contractors.

Oversee work done by outside contractors.

Enforcing FAMA safety and quality standards.

Special event support.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Reading, writing, math, administrative, personnel and budget management skills.

Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of university personnel as well as students, outside vendors and contractors.

Understanding of building maintenance and custodial operations.

Customer service experience.

Budget generation and supervision experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or facilities management, or five years of supervision or customer service experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

TMA CMMS experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Bachelor Degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, construction management, or another related field.

Work Location, Environment, and Physical Demands:

Work will predominately occur, but is not limited to the Facilities Management Office. Time will be required in all university properties including spaces requiring PPE such as maintenance shops, boiler rooms, mechanical rooms and construction sites. Some work will be outside in any weather or time of day.
