JOB SUMMARY:

Work to enhance the overall educational experience of students by fostering learning and leadership opportunities, providing a teamwork approach in support of the activities program and assisting with the coordination and the advisement of Student Affairs programs.  Along with the other staff members, there will be principal areas of responsibility for each position described in the following section.

SALARY INFORMATION:

In compliance with New York’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $62,400. Adelphi University considers factors such as departmental budgets, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Develop a comprehensive calendar of late night and weekend events.
  • Work in coordination with campus departments to advertise late night and weekend programs for residential and commuter students.
  • Track and assess programmatic efforts for the Division of Student Affairs.
  • Develop and train organizations on marketing plans for weekend student retention.
  • Assist in professional coverage for late night and weekend programs.
  • Coordinate off-campus excursions both day and overnight.
  • Collaborate with University Athletics to provide programs that generate spirit, pride and support for Adelphi’s sporting events.
  • Serve as the advisor of the Student Activities Board and support their large-scale programming efforts including Spring Concert.
  • Develop senior year experience programming and traditional events.
  • Oversee the management of student organizations including training, accreditation and advisor support.
  • Assist in budget management of student organizations and allocation of the student activities fee.
  • Serve as the supervisor of the SGA bookkeeper.
  • Oversee the new student organization review process and develop training to support new student organizations.
  • Assist in leadership programs and training for student leaders.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of all student orientation programs.
  • Execute any new and special programs for the Center for Student and Community Engagement.
  • Assist in the development of a comprehensive marketing and promotion strategy for the department.
  • Assist in department and division assessment efforts.
  • Assist in the hiring process and training of personnel.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Ability to promote high ethical standards and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to interact with a diverse student body.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Evening and Weekend work required.
  • EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education is preferred.
  • One to two years of job related experience in a University setting is required.
  • POSITION(S) SUPERVISED:

  • SGA Bookkeeper – Hourly.
  • Student Employees.
  • Graduate Assistant.
