Primary Purpose of Department | The mission of the Student Assistance and Support Services (SASS) office is to assist, support and advocate for students experiencing a broad range of issues, concerns or challenges interfering with a student’s ability to be successful academically or personally. Student issues and/or behaviors managed by the SASS office can be extremely challenging, volatile, highly sensitive, and potentially threatening to the safety and welfare of the campus community. |
Primary Purpose of Position | The Assistant Director for Basic Needs (ADBN) will oversee the University’s Jamil Niner Student Pantry (Pantry). The position will provide development and leadership in all aspects of the Jamil Niner Student Pantry and provide services designed to minimize the impact of food insecurity on students’ academics and personal well-being through case management, various interventions, referrals, and follow-up services. The position assists in planning, coordinating, implementing, and assessing programs and services designed to identify and meet students’ basic needs. The focus of this position is to perform various functions to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Jamil Niner Student Pantry. The position will be the primary lead in managing a collegiate food pantry and will coordinate food and hygiene items distribution to our campus populations, schedule student staff, and provide primary oversight of the Jamil Niner Student Pantry hours. |
