Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


The Assistant Director for the 49er Intensive Transition program is responsible for holistic program development for the 49er Intensive Transition Program (49er FIT) campus-wide, including program marketing, recruitment, implementation, evaluation, and assessment of program impact. They will also supervise peer mentors and Teaching Assistants associated with the program. Additionally, they are responsible for course teaching in the First-Year Seminar Program.
Program Coordination: Holistic program development for the 49er Intensive Transition Program campus-wide, including program marketing, recruitment, implementation, evaluation, and assessment of program impact.
Teaching: Course development and teaching in First-Year Seminar program.
Training and Supervision: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise graduate Teaching Assistants and undergraduate peer mentors associated with the 49er FIT program.
Other administrative duties: The Assistant Director will be required to assist with departmental strategic planning, budget development, departmental annual reports, personnel management, alumni development, serving on campus committees, and assisting with other departmental programs as needed.

Minimum Experience / Education:

  • Master's Degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, Education or other comparable degrees.
  • One year of experience in a university setting;
  • Experience with student personnel management;
  • Experience conducting presentations and workshops;
  • A clean driving record with a valid driver's license.

Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

  • Experience coordinating traditional transition or summer bridge programs;
  • Teaching experience in a university setting;
  • Experience with budget development and/or management.
