Definition of Class

This position develops and leads retention initiatives for undergraduate students in programs within the academic unit. The incumbent plans, develops, and executes strategies to meet student retention goals; and serves as a liaison between students, parents, faculty, and staff.


Examples of Work Performed
  • Plans, develops, and executes goals and objectives to retain current students.
  • Manages and promotes the School’s tutoring program for the core courses taken by multiple majors within the School.
  • Provides oversight and guidance to student organizations. 
  • Manages the Student Ambassador program activities and outreach efforts and assists with other outreach efforts.
  • Directs strategic approaches to improve retention efforts.
  • Builds and maintains collaborative relationships with campus departments, academic units, faculty, staff, and students to support retention activities.
  • Serves as a point of contact and liaison between current students, parents, faculty, staff, and departments across campus.
  • Participates in committees to support and enhance retention efforts.
  • Develops and manages assigned budget for retention strategies and activities.
  • Communicates with internal and external partners to promote academic programs and initiatives.
  • Collects and tracks data to define and characterize demographic, socioeconomic, and geographic groups and assists in the development of strategic retention plans.
  • Monitor and report to the Provost’s Office the status of 5-year and 6-year cohort students not yet graduated; work with these students to try to complete their degrees within the allotted time frame.
  • Perform similar or related duties as assigned or required.

4.    Serves as a liaison between parents, students, faculty, and staff.


Minimum Education/Experience


Education:

Master’s degree in a related field

AND

Experience: 

Three (3) years of experience related to the duties described above


Substitution Statement:
Related experience may be substituted for education on a basis set forth and approved by the Department of Human Resources.
