Position Information

The School of Business at the University of California, Riverside is a nationally-ranked and Internationally recognized AACSB-accredited business school. With over 14,000 alumni from all over the world, it is home to the largest undergraduate business program in the University of California system, as well as to the A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management, which features MBA, Ph.D., Professional MBA, Master of Professional Accountancy (MPAc), Master of Finance (MFin), and Master of Business Analytics (MSBA) programs. The school is positioned as a center of excellence in business education through cutting-edge research on the business challenges of the 21st century. The Assistant Dean of the Graduate Programs supports the school's mission and vision with regard to the graduate programs and their impact on the students and communities. The Assistant Dean serves as an advisor to the Dean, Associate Dean, Department Chair, faculty, and graduate programs directors in the areas of admissions, recruitment, retention, administrative policy, student services, student employment, ranking, resource management, personnel management, space planning and utilization and other areas key to the mission of the School of Business. The graduate programs include state and multiple self-supporting master programs and the Assistant Dean will be responsible for overseeing the entire cycle of these programs. The incumbent supervises the daily operations and administration, budget, program for both units, Admission and Recruitment, and Graduate Student Success. The Assistant Dean will ensure a high quality of service, with a strong emphasis and commitment to the overall student experience from the recruitment process, through the academic program to the job placement. Responsible for the development of a comprehensive plan for more efficient and effective processes with the support of staff, technology, and networking. This position is responsible for monitoring enrollment, identifying trends, and developing successful programs to positively impact graduate enrollment and success toward graduation and placement. As a key member of the Dean's senior management team, contributes to strategic goal setting, organizational decisions, and problem resolution; advises to ensure appropriate organizational resource allocation and continual operational effectiveness in support of School and campus strategic plans.

The full salary range for the Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs is $96,700.00 - $184,100.00 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Advanced working knowledge of Excel and demonstrated ability to develop complex statistical analysis, forecasts and data projections related to undergraduate programmatic matters.


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.

High-level critical thinking and interpretive skills to analyze situations, define problems, identify concerns, develop, propose and implement solutions. Creativity to analyze and solve unusual and new problems in ways that establish effective and efficient procedures.

Multicultural competencies; ability to work with diverse populations. Strong demonstrated skills to articulate complex program requirements to a variety of individuals with broad educational, cultural, and language backgrounds in a pleasant and courteous manner.

Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with faculty, students and staff using tact, diplomacy and discretion. Strong negotiating skills to resolve conflicts among staff, faculty, and students. Strong leadership, organizational, negotiation, decision-making and management skills.
