Job Description

The Assistant Dean for Finance and Facilities serves as the chief financial officer for the Pamplin College of Business. Reporting to the Dean and collaborating with other members of the leadership team, the Assistant Dean will spearhead the development and execution of the college's financial strategy, and employ innovative approaches to identifying funding opportunities from various sources such as university allocations, state appropriations, foundation grants, and strategic industry partnerships. The Assistant Dean will need to be proficient in predictive analytics and adopt a data-driven approach to navigating the complex landscape of financial management within the College, ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial sustainability. Additionally, the individual will oversee facilities management initiatives, ensuring optimal utilization of space and resources (distributed across many locations) to support the college's mission and strategic objectives.


Required Qualifications

•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent education in financial management.
•Extensive experience in budgeting, accounting, and managing multi-million-dollar portfolios.
•Proficiency in financial analysis and strategic planning.
•Understanding of facilities management principles.
•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and to collaborate with other stakeholders.
•Thorough knowledge of state and federal compliance policies relevant to financial management.
•Proficient in spreadsheet and data management software for financial analysis and reporting.
•Demonstrated success in senior management role
•Working knowledge of data visualization software


Preferred Qualifications

•An advanced degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field.
•Familiarity with Sponsored Program best practices in pre- and post-award management and understanding of sponsored research flow.
•Knowledge of Virginia Tech financial and personnel policies and procedures and related enterprise systems.
•Working knowledge of predictive analytic techniques.
•Previous experience and knowledge of professorships, scholarships, procurement, graduate program budget models, capital planning, facilities management, and construction
•Proven success in financial management and planning, forecasting, and modeling
•Significant experience in business administration, and or, financial management.
