Position Overview:

As a trusted advisor and leadership partner of the Dean, the Assistant Dean of Financial Management supports the mission of the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences by directing its administrative, financial and operational activities. The incumbent provides advice and counsel to the Dean and departmental leadership on business, fiscal, human resource and administrative matters. By collaborating with key stakeholders within the college and across the university, the Assistant Dean of Financial Management fosters an environment of exemplary customer service realized through the standardization and efficiency of processes.

Telework:

A hybrid telework schedule may be available. 

Responsibilities:

The Assistant Dean of Financial Management will assist the Dean with strategic financial goal setting, including reporting, budgeting and forecasting. The Assistant Dean will ensure compliance with all institutional and external regulations, policies and laws, as well as directly supervise CNMS Business Central (Shared Services Center) staff managing payroll and hiring, procurement, accounts payable, pre-award proposal and post-award non-financial support and financial management functions. 

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree, preferably in Business or a Business-related discipline
  • Ten years of managerial experience in a complex operating environment with a background in enterprise-wide systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of financial, budget, forecasting and financial analysis and reporting principles and techniques
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, time management, supervisory and verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have extensive customer service experience in a team-oriented environment of continuous improvement 
Preferred Qualifications: 

 

  • Higher education or non-profit experience
  • Experience with PeopleSoft financial management systems that include HRMS, procurement, general ledger and grant accounting
