Pay Grade/Pay Range:  Minimum: $44,200 - Midpoint: $55,300 (Salaried E6)

Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm


Job Summary: The Assistant Construction Field Coordinator assists in monitoring inspections, quality, and scheduling to support field operations. Assists project manager to ensure proper project controls are in place to support project.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and some construction, engineering, and/or project management experience.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University polices. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates who are not current University of Alabama employees must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.


Skills and Knowledge: Must have a willingness to learn the construction industry and develop personal skills for dealing with all the varied companies and individuals encountered. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language. Must have an understanding of project plans, specifications and other documents. Must be proficient with personal computers to include word processing, spreadsheets, and email applications.


Preferred Qualifications: 1 - 3 years commercial construction experience. 1 - 3 years of experience working in a college campus environment. Experience in performing inspection of mechanical, plumbing and/or electrical systems is preferred and will be an extensive part of the work. Any experience working in an institutional environment with multiple projects with various systems. Some knowledge of commercial construction including codes and standards and means and methods.

Bilingual in Spanish and English is preferred.
