Job Summary

Under the supervision and guidance of the Principal Investigator and Clinical Research Supervisor at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center (MAC) RabLab the Assistant Clinical Research Coordinator (ACRC) will perform entry-level duties will be responsible for the coordination of one or more single or multi-site, clinical research trials by serving as a liaison between the UCSF PET Neuroimaging Team researchers and other research collaborators and participants. This position will assist in the design of flow sheets for the PET scan visual read process and source documents; gather, inspect, enter, and clean imaging data provided on research participants; apply the understanding of inclusion/exclusion eligibility criteria for protocols; complete study forms to submit to sponsors and/or appropriate agencies; assist clinicians and ensure prompt completion of the data entry of clinical PET imaging reads and digital dissemination of results to all study sites; maintain database and perform quality control checks; assist with preparation of data visualizations, creating tables, figures, and graphs for presentations, manuscripts and grant applications; attend team meetings; and perform other duties as assigned. The ACRC is not required to have specialized training to perform these duties and candidate will be trained on-the-job to meet the responsibilities of the position.

Department Description

The UCSF Memory and Aging Center’s (MAC) mission is to deliver superb patient care to patients with neurodegenerative diseases, like Alzheimer’s disease. In addition, we aim to discover the causes of and develop treatments for these disorders, and to educate each generation of medical students, neurology residents, postdoctoral fellows, and international scholars in the highest quality of clinical care and research.


Required Qualifications

  • HS graduation and sufficient experience and demonstrated skills to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities or equivalent training/experience
  • Demonstrated interest in cognitive neuroscience or neurodegenerative disease (as shown by coursework or previous work/volunteer experience).
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of multiple teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and effectively in an environment with competing priorities to meet project goals and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of neurobiology and brain anatomy.
  • Previous experience with data management.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication when drafting study documents and engaging with colleagues, participants, and their families.
  • Experience working closely with patients and their families, particularly within the geriatric population.
  • Knowledge of IRB protocols, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
