Job Description Summary:

To provide support services to the classroom teaching teams, who have primary responsibility for children’s daily care and education. Duties include for the infant and toddler classrooms covering morning breaks and helping to open up the child care center for the day.

Job Duties

  • The duties and tasks of this position include, but are not limited to covering breaks; covering team meeting, staff meeting and planning times; tasks related to opening set up and mid or end of day sanitation; enhancing ratios before the late teacher arrives or after the early teacher leaves; and assisting with late children. Assists lead and assistant teachers in classroom management (for example, supervision and guidance of children and positive interactions).
  • Assists with cleaning related to the care of children (for example, cleaning up after meals and snacks and sanitizing toys and equipment).
  • Assists with routines related to the care of children (for example, diapering/toileting and feeding).
  • Communicates positively with parents, co-workers, students and community members.
  • Protects the health and safety of children (for example, inform or correct health and safety problems and wash hands).
  • Behaves professionally and ethically (for example, wear nametag, dress appropriately, arrive on time ready to work, inform supervisor when absent).
  • Assists with keeping classrooms, hallways and storage areas organized.
  • Takes on responsibility of classroom management in absence of Assistant or Lead Teacher (for example, follow lesson plan and record information about children’s day and communicate appropriate information with parents).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalency.

Preferred Education

  • Completion of some Child Development, Early Childhood, or related college coursework.

Special Requirements

  • 18 years of age.
  • Willingness to participate in orientation prior to classroom placement.
  • Willingness to participate in training required by TDFPS Child Care Licensing, including CPR and First Aid, and the Health Department.
  • Meet criminal history requirements for TDFPS Child Care Licensing.

Physical Requirements

  • Work is routinely performed in a standard office or similar environment. Subject to standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.

Safety

  • Work safely and follow safety rules. Report unsafe working conditions and behavior. Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

Pay Rate

$22.00/Hour

Must have availability to work 8-11 am Monday- Friday; some Fridays working 12-3.
