Job Description:

The Iowa State University Book Store is a self-supporting auxiliary unit of Iowa State University located in Ames, IA. As the official bookstore serving Iowa State University, we will provide customers the educational products, services, and resources to support Iowa State University’s mission.
The position of Assistant Buyer – Collegiate Merchandise at the Iowa State University Book Store involves various responsibilities such as assisting with ordering and inventory management of collegiate licensed and graduation products, negotiating with vendors, analyzing financial risks, generating reports, coordinating merchandise resale, managing retail prices and revenue goals, conducting staff training, communicating with stakeholders, staying updated on industry trends, troubleshooting POS and software issues, and participating in industry meetings and events.
The successful candidate should possess strong communication, negotiation, organizational, and multitasking skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Additionally, proficiency in computer skills and flexibility in working hours, including a rotating weekday closing shift, some weekends, and occasional events like the State Fair, Farm Progress, and off-site events are required.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
