Position Summary
St. Anthony Catholic High School is seeking an Assistant Boy’s Basketball Coach. Position assists the Head Basketball Coach in growing the basketball teams into competitive programs. The Assistant Boy’s Basketball Coach teaches and coaches with the mission of St. Anthony Catholic High School and our Core Values of Honesty & Integrity; Community; Service & Social Justice; Scholarship; Holistic Education. Position reports to the Athletic Director.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duties
  • Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport;
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practices, activities/exercises as directed by the head coach;
  • Assesses team skills, monitors athletes during competitions and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of athletes;
  • Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition;
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards athletes, officials, and spectators;
  • Follows rules and regulations of TAPPS guidelines.;
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Possess effective coaching techniques and skills;
  • Thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of Basketball;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, teachers, parents and students;
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Required Education
High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of boys’ basketball coaching experience. Note that up to two (2) years of collegiate playing experience can substitute for coaching experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree;
  • Experience as a player at a collegiate or professional level.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
  • Must have CDL (Commercial Drivers License) or obtain CDL before November 30, 2022;
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with the ability to be insured through UIW’s vehicle insurance carrier.
