Position Focus:

Under direction of a Head Athletic Trainer, oversees the physical evaluation and treatment of student athletes to maintain maximum physical fitness and participation in athletic competition.


Essential Duties

1. Treats and rehabilitates athletes to return them to full activity levels. 2. Conducts pre-season screening and conditioning to prevent injuries during competitions 3. Administers first aid and emergency techniques; applies tape, bandages, braces and padding to injuries. 4. Recommends new or modified care treatment; documents treatments, referrals and injury reports. 5. Determines methods for educating both athletes and coaching staff on proper training techniques and modalities. 6. In conjunction with the team physician, determines when an athlete has completed a rehabilitation program and can resume an appropriate level of activity. 7. Assists team physician during clinical hours. 7. Assists team physician during clinical hours. 8. Travels with and/or oversees assigned varsity sports teams. 9. May perform other duties as assigned.


Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Physical Therapy or Allied Health Sciences required and two years of experience as an Athletic Trainer at the collegiate level or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) and Ivy League regulations.


Required Skill/Ability 1:

Ability to work with diverse population and meet multiple demands, communicate effectively, and strong organizational skills and attention to detail.


Required Skill/Ability 2:

Excellent written and oral communication skills.


Required Licenses or Certifications

Certified Athletic Trainer.
