Job Summary/Basic Function
Central State University, Intercollegiate Athletics, invites applications for the position of
Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and Multimedia.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Assistant Athletic Director of Communications and Multimedia will be involved in the
department’s day-to-day operations, including developing and implementing Marauder Athletic’s
athletic communications and digital media plan. The successful candidate will help coordinate
the day-to-day execution of all logistics related to sports information duties for the football and
men’s/women’s volleyball, basketball, cross country, and track and field programs. This person
will serve as the primary contact for these sports as it relates to publicity, media, website
maintenance, social media, statistics, storytelling, multimedia needs, and gameday operations.
The candidate will be asked to supervise student workers during game coverage of home and
away events. Additional multimedia projects and special assignments will be given based on
capability and project need. The person in this role will possess very strong creative technical
skills (writing, photography, video, sports stats, and graphic skills) and will have demonstrated
the ability to communicate with a wide range of diverse audiences such as coaches, athletic
administrators, faculty representatives, athletic director, SIAC conference office representatives,
presidents, athletic communication directors, student-athletes and the public and the media. The
director will also have other duties as assigned.
DUTIES:
  • Oversee all aspects of media communications for marauder sports, including, but not
  • limited to, weekly releases, weekly awards, statistics, and post-season coverage.
  • Operate the McPherson Stadium Video Board (OES) and all game day and in-game
  • functioning of commercials, sponsor ads, stats, crowd engagement, and scoring.
  • Ability to capture live video for immediate playback on the
  • Watch incoming camera feeds for optimal replays
  • Prepare replay clips for playback
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical manuals
  • Respond to media requests as well as incoming inquiries from internal and external
  • audiences.
  • Design graphics for print and electronic use in promoting Marauder Athletics.
  • Scheduling broadcasters and student photographers and videographers; assist students
  • working at the athletic events
  • Provide photography at all Marauder Athletics, university, and conference events.
  • Produce audio and video pieces for use in promoting Marauder Athletics.
  • Oversight and maintenance of the athletic website.
  • Manage and continually build Marauder Athletics’ social media presence.
  • Ensure the accuracy of information on all league platforms, with an emphasis on quality
  • and relevance.
  • Maintain departmental records and statistics in each sport.
  • Represent Marauder Athletics at meetings, national events, media events, and conference
  • and national championships.
  • Plan and organize Marauder Athletic Events to expand media footprint
  • Oversee the compliance of the sport specific media platforms
  • Work with the IT Technology department on special projects
  • Collaborate with Institutional Advancement on special projects
  • Have sport oversight of some athletic teams.
  • Perform other professional responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.

A working knowledge of the following is required:
 ● Microsoft Office products
 ● Adobe Creative Suite, including, but not limited to: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator,
Premiere Pro and After Effects
 ● Statistical software (NCAA Live Stats, Presto stats, Statcrew, Golfstat, etc.)
 ● Athletic website content management software (Sidearm)
 ● Social media platforms including, but not limited to: Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok,
Twitter and Youtube
 ● Digital and Video scoreboard management experience is preferred (OES)
 ● Planning and organizing events 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in sports information or related field required.
  • The successful candidate will possess strong verbal, written, and online communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, and must be able to manage multiple responsibilities under pressure and with tight deadlines.
  • Broadcasting experience and the ability to mentor student broadcasters.
  • Experience utilizing social media to increase visibility and grow the University’s brand; NCAA Division I, II, or III experience is preferred.

Travel and some night and weekend work are required.
