Syracuse University's School of Information Studies (the iSchool, ischool.syr.edu) invites applications to fill two open faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/ Associate Teaching Professor or Professor of Practice. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong interest and ability in teaching in our Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree programs, and, as appropriate, teaching in the Doctorate of Professional Studies (DPS) and advising DPS research projects.
The compensation range is as follows:
Assistant teaching professor – $83,000-98,000
Associate teaching professor – $99,000-110,000
Professor of Practice – $76,000-110,000
We are particularly interested in faculty members who can provide instruction and expertise in one or more of the following areas:
1. Data science, machine learning and natural language processing, generative AI/text analytics, big data systems
2. Project management of Information systems —including PMBOK and Agile frameworks, risk management.
These two positions are full-time, 8.5-month (academic year) faculty appointments, from mid-August until mid-May. We are aiming for a January or August 2024 start date. Faculty are expected to teach primarily on campus with the possibility of online teaching. There is an option of summer instruction for additional compensation. All new faculty are assigned mentors to assist in course development, classroom management, assessment, and other aspects of teaching practice.
