Position Description


Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
Reporting to the Chair, Department of Endodontics, is responsible for providing curricular content in the following primary areas: 1.) Research mentorship for master’s and PhD students as well as pre-doctoral students in the Endodontics department, 2.) Pre-doctoral didactic, pre-clinical simulation and clinical education, 3.) Advanced education program didactic education.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBLITES:
  • Predoctoral program
    • Didactic, pre-clinical and clinical education in the areas of Endodontics
    • Act as Course Director.
    • Participate in Personalized Instructional Programs and student research projects.
    • Provide academic advising and guidance.

  • Advanced Specialty Education programs
    • Didactic, in the areas of Endodontics.
    • Supervise and participate in resident research projects.

  • Collaborate on inter-professional programs with other Pacific health programs and extramural health education partners.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
  • Research lab protocols.
  • External funding sources for research.
  • Competency based education and assessment methodology.
  • Modern pedagogical concepts and application in health professions education.
  • Integrated, inter-professional care delivery systems.
  • Trends in oral health and oral health education.

Ability to:
  • Provide predoctoral, advanced education, and PhD didactic, preclinical and clinical content
  • Provide academic advisement and guidance to dental students
  • Obtain external funding for research initiatives

Experience:
  • Minimum of 4 years of private practice or teaching or research activities
  • Successful research background and publication

Education:
  • DMD/DDS from an ADA-accredited school of dentistry or international equivalent
  • Successful completion of an advanced education program in Endodontics from ADA-accredited school of dentistry or international equivalent

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Active dental license
  • Current CPR certification

Working Conditions:
  • Position is 4 days per week
  • Position requires coordination of a variety of responsible duties in stressful non-clinical and clinical situations
  • Must be available to work additional hours as needed

  • Oversee endodontic research activities of predoctoral, advanced education, and PhD programs

Education:
  • Board certified or eligible
  • Master of Science degree or its equivalent
  • PhD Degree in the field of dental sciences

Other:
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range $162,000-$195,000 annually. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
