Job Summary
The Physical Therapy Program in the Department of Rehabilitative Sciences at East Tennessee State University seeks applicants for a full-time core faculty position. This position is a 12-month clinical or tenure-track appointment.
The Physical Therapy program also offers a residency program in orthopaedic physical therapy that is co-sponsored by the James H. Quillen Veterans Hospital along with a fellowship program in orthopaedic manual physical therapy in conjunction with local clinical partners. The Department of Rehabilitative Sciences is housed within the College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences which includes graduate programs in audiology, occupational therapy, orthotics & prosthetics, nutrition, speech-language pathology, and social work. The college is part of the Academic Health Sciences Center which includes the James H. Quillen College of Medicine, the Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, the College of Public Health, and the College of Nursing. There is a strong emphasis on interprofessional education and research.
ETSU is a comprehensive teaching and research university with an enrollment of approximately 15,000 students. It is set in the scenic foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and the rich history of the region is woven into the area’s recreation, community, and lifestyle, giving the area the feeling of a home away from home.
The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the Physical Therapy Program through teaching, scholarship, and service activities in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of ETSU. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications
  • A physical therapy degree with a terminal academic degree (PhD, DSc, EdD, etc.) Will consider those applicants pursuing their degree with a conferred date no later than the start date of employment.
  • Current or eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in Tennessee.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Clinical Specialist certification or other demonstration of content expertise.
  • Prior teaching experience in a physical therapy academic program.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications and/or presentations.
  • Documented history of service within the profession and/or university.
Salary Commensurate with education and experience
