The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Neurologist, Assistant/Associate/Professor, Neurology Department, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine [R0140124].

Role of the Position

The Department of Neurology, at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, is seeking candidates at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level to serve as Neurologist. 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a new academic Neurology department and practice. Our aim is to establish new standards of medical care for our community and to provide unparalleled clinical and research services.

Clinical activities will involve attending duties in neurology clinics and inpatient services at the University Medical Center, a community level 1 trauma hospital in Las Vegas.   

Teaching responsibilities include teaching medical student courses and clerkship, mentoring graduate students and trainees, training residents, fellows and medical students and teaching continuing education programs for physicians and the public. Candidates will be able to develop a research program that could also be integrated into the clinical activities.

* Critical Care Neurology

* Epilepsy

* Multiple Sclerosis

* Movement Disorders

* Neuromuscular Disorders

The candidate's educational credentials, terminal degree, experience in an academic medical institution or equivalency will be considered in determining the candidate's recommended rank. The SOM Faculty Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (FAPT) Committee will use the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV (SOM) promotion criteria to recommend the rank to the Dean of the SOM. Tenure considerations may be given upon hire on a case-by-case basis depending on verified previous credentials, the FAPT recommendation, and the SOM Dean's recommendation.

Minimum Qualifications

MD/DO or equivalent degree. Must have completed residency from an ACGME accredited program prior to starting employment. Board eligible/certified in Neurology.

 If board eligible, must obtain board certification within two years of employment. Fellowship training preferred. Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license, malpractice insurance and must be able to be successfully credentialed by UNLV Medicine affiliated hospitals and/or clinics. As a finalist, you may be subject to a background check
