Job Description

The College of Business, Engineering, and Technology (CBET) at Texas A&M University-Texarkana invites applications for a 9-month tenure track faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor of Management Information Systems (MIS).  This position will begin in Fall 2024.  CBET is accredited by both AACSB and ABET. In addition to an existing graduate program (MBA), we are planning on building a STEM designated graduate program in computer information systems, and undergraduate programs in IT and Business Analytics. Faculty at Texas A&M University-Texarkana are required to conduct scholarly activities, work cooperatively with others, and contribute service to their discipline, the university, and the community.

The position carries a 3/4 course load with the possibility of teaching summer courses. Courses would include introductory, upper-level, and graduate classes in MIS in both traditional classroom settings and online.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Teach undergraduate and/or masters level courses through various modalities in MIS and related disciplines like Computer Science (CS), Data Analytics (DA), Business Analytics (BA) etc.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct quality scholarly research in peer reviewed journals.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines
  • Contribute to curriculum and course development
  • Serve on department, college and university committees assigned by the Dean
  • Advise students
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, and community
  • Maintain knowledge and stay abreast of current trends in learning with research, best practices in teaching, and technological applications in the classroom, including online teaching
  • Other duties as assigned by the Dean

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES :

Minimum Requirements

  • Earned doctorate in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Information Systems (CIS), Data Analytics (DA), Business Analytics (BA), Computer Science (CS) or a closely related field from an accredited university (ABDs with confirmed doctoral dissertation defense dates will also be considered at the rank of Instructor until the doctorate is conferred).
  • Commitment to high quality teaching, dedication to high standards, and student success.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team of professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to conduct scholarly research.
  • For the rank of Associate Professor, commensurate teaching, and research experience.
  • Eligibility to work the U.S. at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in MIS/CIS/DA/BA/CS from an AACSB or an ABET accredited college/university.
  • Ability and experience to teach courses in one or more areas of Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Enterprise Resource Planning, Mobile App Development, Business Intelligence, Computer networks and programming languages such as Java, Python, etc.
  • A relevant certification in one of the areas mentioned above and/or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in teaching upper or lower division courses and graduate classes at the university level utilizing current supporting technologies.
  • Record of scholarly activities like publications of peer review research articles in quality journals
  • Experience directing or coordinating MIS-related grant activities.
