Overview

The Department of Basic Biomedical Science at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) seeks to fill a 12-month full-time faculty position in Medical Biochemistry and Medical Genetics at the Assistant or Associate Professor level at its Harlem, NY campus.


Responsibilities
  • This faculty position requires collaboration with faculty at the Middletown and Montana campus locations in the development, organization, and delivery of the Medical Biochemistry and Medical Genetics curriculum.
  • Content delivery, formative quizzes and discussions and examinations occur simultaneously as a singular program across all campus locations.
  • Our faculty teach using a combination of live and recorded sessions (applied in the flipped classroom format) and provide timely feedback on student learning using innovative formative and summative assessments.

Qualifications
Education/ Experience
  • Applicants must have a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) or Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree and/or a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Human Genetics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong record of teaching Biochemistry and Genetics.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate potential for exceptional teaching at the medical and/or graduate school level, potential for research, and cooperative interaction with the faculty.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communication (written and verbal) required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues required
  • The ideal candidate will be proficient in the following areas: teaching relevant content, expertise in research techniques, instructional design, course management, content delivery, course assessment, student evaluation, public speaking, effective communication, collegial work with diverse teams, and interdisciplinary partnerships.
  • Basic computer skills supporting the proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite, software used to prepare and administer exams electronically, and learning management systems.
  • Understanding and ability to utilize of audio-visual and assessment equipment (e.g., Zoom, iClicker Cloud platform)

Travel

  • Travel to professional academic conferences as approved by the Department Chair.

USD $106,834.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary
USD $85,467.00/Yr.
