Learning Technology and Leadership Education
Programs within the Learning Technology and Leadership Education (LTLE) Department prepare students to work with learners across the lifespan. LTLE programs enable students to develop education programs for adults in the workplace; use digital media and technologies to design learning interventions; develop leadership skills to lead teams, departments, organizations, schools, and communities; and develop advanced foundational skills and knowledge for graduate programs. LTLE is home to 20 full-time faculty members and 1 staff member. The following undergraduate and graduate programs are offered by the department:

Duties and Responsibilities
The LTLE department is seeking a full-time tenure track Assistant/Associate professor to begin employment in August 2024.
The successful candidate should:
  • Develop and teach online graduate classes in the Learning Design and Technology program and face-to-face undergraduate courses in the Educational Media Minor program;
  • Establish a strong research or scholarly agenda that advances innovative, equitable, and applied understandings of learning technologies;
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues both within and beyond the academic unit;
  • Possess an ambitious future-oriented vision for the department that includes attracting diverse new students to the programs.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should:
  • Hold an appropriate terminal degree in the field of learning design, learning engineering, instructional technology, educational technology, or related fields, no later than May 31, 2024;
  • Demonstrate a strong theoretical and/or critical perspective about the role of technology for learning;
  • Demonstrate an interest in emerging technologies;
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion;
  • Have a plan for their future research or scholarship that aligns with their perspectives, interests, and commitments;
  • Demonstrate experience designing innovative and creative learning experiences;
  • Demonstrate experience working with research and/or design teams;
  • Demonstrate evidence of commitment to developing and cultivating a robust research agenda if early in the career;
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills.

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
