Department Summary
The Department of Kinesiolgy, Health Promotion, and Recreation (KHPR) is expanding its faculty to support a new STEM Ph.D. degree in Human Performance and Movement Science while it continues its long history of serving over 1,300 undergraduate and graduate students. Students and faculty specialize in applied physiology, human performance psychology, and sport pedagogy/motor development. Research laboratories and dedicated space support these specializations including applied physiology, pediatric movement and physical activity, and sport and exercise psychophysiology sites. A recent KHPR video highlights the capabilities of our laboratories and spaces for current and future collaborative research.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position Summary
The Department of Kinesiolgy, Health Promotion, and Recreation (KHPR) invites applicants for a full-time, nine-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor beginning Fall 2024. 
A successful candidate will:
· Contribute to the Department’s newly established Ph.D. program in Human Performance and Movement Science.
· Exhibit a record of high-quality scholarship within either the exercise physiology or sport/exercise/health psychology specialization focused on health outcomes in disparate populations with an exercise or physical activity emphasis.
· Illustrate how their research is collaborative and synergistic with Department faculty.
· Demonstrate the potential for extramural funding in health disparities with an exercise or physical activity emphasis.
In addition to developing an active and focused research agenda leading to extramural funding, faculty are expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses within exercise physiology or sport/exercise/health psychology specialization. A typical instructional load for tenure-track faculty is two courses per long semester (2:2). Faculty contribute to the academic excellence of the KHPR Department by mentoring students and providing internal and external service. This may include serving an advisory role in mentored research or practical experiences, being involved in theses, dissertations, and culminating projects, and serving in committee, curriculum, and coordinator roles.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Kinesiology , Human Performance, Movement Science, or closely related field.
  • Demonstrated potential for high-quality, collaborative scholarship and research leading to extramural funding in exercise physiology or sport/exercise/health psychology focused on health outcomes in disparate populations.
  • Dedication to mentoring graduate students interested in either exercise physiology or sport/exercise/health psychology specializations focused on health outcomes in disparate populations with an exercise or physical activity emphasis.
