The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Houston invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels. We welcome applications from exceptional candidates in all research areas. We are especially interested in artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced semiconductors, batteries and quantum computing technologies, with applications in healthcare, energy, or biotechnology. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
The department is seeking outstanding candidates with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students. The anticipated start date for this position is September 1, 2024. Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, or a related scientific field at the time of application.
UH is a Carnegie Tier One public research university that is located on a park-like campus a few minutes from the Houston city center. The ECE department stretches across 3 campuses, one in Houston (central), one at Katy, TX, and one at Dalian (China). On the central campus, it is home to 37 tenure-track faculty, 4 full-time research faculty, and 4 instructional faculty, with 3 NAE members, 3 NAI Fellows, 8 IEEE Fellows, 3 AIMBE Fellows, 2 SAE Fellows, 2 FRSC(UK), and Fellows of OSA, APS, AAAS, ECS, SPIE, AAAS, among other distinctions. The department is home to multiple NSF Centers, Industry/University consortia, and an excellent nanofabrication facility. The university has a well-developed faculty-centered ecosystem for translational research and commercialization of lab-developed technologies.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess an earned doctorate in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or other relevant scientific field at the time of application.
