Job Description

The Department of Psychology and Sociology, at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, invites applications for a full-Time (9-month), tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor in a Clinical Psychology position beginning as early as Fall of 2024. We seek applicants with a Ph.D. expected in hand by the time of appointment.  Applicants must be licensed or license eligible as a psychologist in Texas.  We are especially interested in candidates with research and clinical interests in child or adolescent psychology and with a specialization in clinical, counseling, or school psychology.  Successful candidates will be expected to teach core clinical courses at the undergraduate and master’s level and develop courses in their area of specialization. Full-time, tenure-track appointments receive a 3-3 teaching load. The department has an increasing focus on research and seeks candidates with a record of research productivity and a research agenda suited to TAMUCC and the community that includes an interest in pursuing external funding.

TAMU-CC is an R2 University and candidates are expected to have an active research program. This program will include mentoring student research and supervising master’s thesis students in our Clinical Psychology MA program. Individuals considered for this position will also be expected to provide clinical supervision to master’s level students, and actively engage in service to the department, college, university, and profession.

The Psychology programs are among the largest in the College of Liberal Arts, with approximately 500 majors, 100 minors, and 40 graduate students.  The successful candidate should have an understanding and knowledge of multicultural issues and relevant experience in their applications to pedagogy and clinical practice.

Required Qualifications:   

  • Earned Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or School Psychology from an APA accredited program. Advanced ABD will be considered; degree must be conferred by the time of appointment.

  • Be license eligible as a psychologist in the state of Texas at the time of appointment.

  • To be considered for Associate Professor rank, a minimum of five (5) years of experience at the assistant professor or comparable rank is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Research, teaching, and/or clinical interests in child, adolescent, or school psychology.

  • Licensed as a psychologist, preferably in the state of Texas.

  • Experience and/or ability to teach/develop clinical courses at the master’s and undergraduate level.

  • A record of research productivity and a research agenda suited to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

  • Interest and/or experience in seeking external funding for research.

  • A record of mentoring students in research
