The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) is recruiting for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor to join the Department of Family and Community Health and lead the Psychiatric Mental Health Specialty and its ten faculty.  The Specialty include oversight of the U.S. News & World Report number one rated public DNP Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program whose graduates have a 100% pass rate on the ANCC board exam, entry-level psychiatric mental health courses for the BSN and MSN, and an undergraduate emphasis and graduate certificate in Addictions Nursing.

UMSON enrolls 2000 students in its baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral programs. It is ranked among the top ten schools of nursing by U.S. News & World Report. UMSON is part of the University of Maryland graduate professional campus that also includes the schools of medicine, dentistry, law, pharmacy, and social work. Its interdisciplinary graduate school has more than 40 programs in the biosciences, law, and social work, and is one of the fastest growing biomedical research centers in the nation. The unique composition of the campus enables health professionals to address clinical care, public policy, and social issues through multidisciplinary research, scholarship, and community action. Primary Responsibilities

  • Provides curricular leadership and guidance to faculty 
  • Collaborates with the Department Chair and provides input regarding faculty recruitment, selection, orientation, and assignments
  • Collaborates with the Associate Dean of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program and PMHNP faculty regarding curricular oversight, student admission and progression, recruitment, and marketing of the program
  • Collaborates with the Associate Deans of the Master’s and Baccalaureate Programs regarding curricular oversight
  • Monitors course evaluations to ensure compliance with accrediting standards and competencies
  • Participates in the development, teaching, organization, and evaluation of didactic and clinical education
  • Provides oversight and advisement for the clinical/practicum placement process
  • Evaluates students in clinical settings, including site visits to preceptor locations
  • Advises and mentors students
  • Maintains an active program of scholarship
  • Participates in faculty governance
  • Provide service to the school, university, and profession
 

Qualifications

 
  • Doctoral preparation as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner required—DNP preferred
  • Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner board certification required
  • Clinical practice expertise as a PMHNP
  • Current nursing license to practice in Maryland or a compact state required
  • Teaching experience required
  • Leadership/administrative/ supervisory experience preferred
