Our research priorities are improvement of health outcomes, promoting health for rural and underserved populations, and transforming nursing and interprofessional health education. The College of Nursing is especially interested in candidates who have significant potential for building an extra-murally funded program of research. This is a 12-month, full-time, benefits-eligible, tenure track position. The position would serve as 100% faculty for the College of Nursing. This position is supervised by the College of Nursing Assistant Dean and will be based at one of the following College of Nursing sites: Brookings, Sioux Falls, or Rapid City.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Faculty members plan, implement, and evaluate assigned courses either as an individual assignment or as a member of a teaching team. 
 
SALARY RANGE:
Salary is commensurate with qualifications. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 6% matching, 10 hours of annual leave each month, 9.34 hours of sick leave each month, and eleven paid holidays.  Relocation benefits are available per university’s guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing;
  • A Ph.D. in nursing or related field, completed by start date;
  • One graduate degree must be in nursing;
  • Potential for (Assistant Professor) or demonstrated record (Associate or Full) of excellence in teaching;
  • Potential for (Assistant Professor) or demonstrated record (Associate or Full) of excellence in research/scholarship;
  • Licensed by the South Dakota Board of Nursing or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse as evidenced by current licensure in another state; 
  • Effective written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.;
  • A history of successfully funded research and relevant clinical practice;
  • Active program of research and dissemination;
  • Experience with simulation technology and distance delivery;
  • Potential  or  ability  to  work  collaboratively  in  interdisciplinary teams;
  • Evidence of service to the nursing profession;
  • Degree education from more than one degree granting institution.
