McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, a leading academic health center, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-tenure instructional track Assistant Professor in the Office of Educational Programs. The selected candidate will contribute to the department’s mission of providing administrative oversight and management for all aspects of undergraduate medical education (UME) for the Doctor of Medicine Program.

 

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

 

Faculty Position - Program Assessment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

1. Expertise in assessment, data analysis, and educational outcomes.

2. Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work with all members of the university community including students, faculty, staff, administrators, and accreditors.

3. Ability to synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data and prepare and present reports effectively.

  4. Knowledge and understanding of integrated program planning, development, and administration within higher education.

5. Familiarity with commonly used data analysis software packages (e.g., SPSS).

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

1.  Plans, organizes, coordinates and presents strategic assessment programs, projects, and activities school-wide.

2. Develops and establishes operating goals, policies, and procedures for program assessment, as appropriate; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.

3. Supports continuous academic program assessment (curricular and co-curricular activities) and improvement of student learning through consultation, mentoring, and hands-on training.

4. Collects and analyzes data, creates reports, reviews, and explains trends to determine program effectiveness; formulates and evaluates alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program.

5. Leads the development, organization, analysis, and reporting of student learning outcomes and related activities to support planning activities.

6. Supports the ongoing development and implementation of comprehensive outcomes assessment programs for all academic and administrative units that support the goals of the university's strategic plan.

7.  Interprets assessment findings and prepares an annual assessment report to summarize such findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence institutional decision-making and policy development.

8. Provides strategic advice and consultation to leadership in the development, implementation, and evaluation of modifications and enhancements to existing operations, systems, and procedures.

9. Records, stores, manages, and disseminates confidential and sensitive assessment data, as appropriate.

10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Ph.D. or EdD with training or experience in program assessment
