Qualifications
- Diploma of Degree from a relevant undergraduate program from an accredited college or institution
- Master of Fine Arts or equivalent professional activities
- Minimum of five years of experience teaching at the graduate or undergraduate level
- A strong, active studio practice both in professional work and exhibitions as well as in teaching
- Ability to handle confidential information with tact and discretion and recognize the confidential nature of ArtCenter business, as well as requirements under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
- Must be able to work with and understand our culturally diverse student and faculty body with their needs and goals
- Demonstrated experience in and commitment to diversity, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within Art Center’s diverse communities
Preferred Qualifications
- National and international exhibition record of five years or more
- Two years or more experience with academic committee work

For more than 80 years, ArtCenter has had an international reputation for its rigorous, transdisciplinary curriculum, faculty of professionals, strong ties to industry, and commitment to socially responsible design. We are an independent, nonprofit, four-year college offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in ten specialized programs, and graduate degrees in four art and design disciplines.

Mandatory Duty to Report
All employees who know or have reason to know of allegations or acts that violate ArtCenter’s Title IX Policy prohibiting discrimination, harassment, retaliation, sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual violence, dating violence, and stalking shall promptly inform the Director, Title IX Compliance and Programs, or designee or the Associate Dean of Students or designee. Faculty with a mandatory duty to report are required to disclose all information including the names of the parties, even where the person has requested their name remain confidential.
Pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA), all employees who know of or have reason to suspect child abuse or neglect involving alleged victims under age 18 shall promptly inform local law enforcement or the county welfare department.
Physical Demands and Working Environment

There are multiple modalities of instructional delivery, which may be HyFlex, Hybrid, Remote / Online or In-Person, any of which may be required as a condition of employment. Modalities available or required for specific class(es) should be confirmed with the department.
Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard classroom setting with frequent interactions with other individuals. Due to the nature of the work environment, there is regular exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust and noise.
Physical: Employees stand or sit most of the time, but may be mobile for brief periods of time. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a classroom setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 20 pounds); to operate modern office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: Must be able to have the visual capacity to perform activities such as preparing and reading class materials, viewing a computer terminal and other normal office work with or without correction.
Hearing: Must be able to communicate effectively in the course of normal office communication or exchange ideas with or without correction.
