Position Purpose:
The ASL Staff Interpreter supports d/Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, faculty, and staff on campus through ASL interpreting, CART (communication access real-time translation), and other related services. This position reports to the Disability Accommodations Director.

Education:
- Bachelor’s degree. Interpreter must be currently certified with a State of Illinois Interpreter for the deaf license at the intermediate proficiency level as listed under Section 1515.50 of the Interpreter for the Deaf Licensure Act of 2007.
Skills:
- Strong problem-solving, interpersonal skills, sound decision making and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and excellent organizational skills.
- Possess a positive attitude.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit or stand at desk.
- Ability to move about campus.
- Ability to bend, stoop, use stairs, and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to use computer and general office equipment.
