Reporting to the Chair of Art & Design, The University of West Florida Department of Art and Design is seeking an energetic Director for The Art Gallery (TAG). The Director oversees the operation of the gallery, seeks grant opportunities and builds donor relations for gallery funding, helps faculty implement exhibitions and public programs, and creates high impact opportunities for UWF students, the wider university population, and the community-at-large. The Gallery Director works with students to oversee exhibition design, installation and collections management tasks, which includes providing general care and recommendations for the permanent collection (including the Art in State Buildings Program) and maintaining collections storage.

Responsibilities also include working with BFA students in preparing for and hanging their exit show, and working with faculty and curatorial staff of the Pensacola Museum of Art to facilitate the curation of any non-student-based shows. Related responsibilities include artist contract negotiation, student worker supervision, as well as overseeing research and writing for exhibition text and catalogs. The TAG Exhibition Coordinator develops public programming, meets with classes, instructs students in basic preparator skills, and creates didactic and other written materials for various audiences. The position is funded at $55,000—$60,000 for two years, after which time the position is expected to be maintained through grants, donations, and University funding based upon increased community interaction, secured by the Director.
