Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Archivist - University Records will serve as one of the University Records Officer designees in accordance with Chapter 171.450 of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, and act as the University liaison to the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives to review and revise the State Model University Retention Schedule. The incumbent will serve as proxy for the President in university records matters per Kentucky Law (KRS 171.410-740). The incumbent will provide campus and statewide leadership in the management and use of university records. The incumbent will acquire, manage, and maintain permanent university records and records that document the history of the University. The incumbent will develop and implement records management training and education programming for the University community.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field of study with an emphasis on information management.

Experience: One year experience in records management and archival reference service. Experience with preservation of at-risk web-content and born digital and digitized content preferred.

Licensure & Certifications: Certified Records Manager (CRM) preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of records management, retention schedules and archival theory and standards including legal and fiscal issues governing university records.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of software programs such as collection management, image manipulation, and Microsoft Access.
Ability to communicate highly complex information in both verbal and written form to non-technical audiences at all levels of the university
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate successfully with a broad range of personnel at all levels
Ability to develop and conduct records management training
Ability to maintain and safeguard the confidentiality of documents and the privacy of information collected and reviewed
Strong customer service skills

Job Duties:
