Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring an Anthropology Residential Faculty to work under the Behavioral Sciences department. This position will provide instruction in anthropology courses to a diverse student population; engage students and motivate student success while teaching classes in a variety of modalities using a variety of instruction and assessment methods and technologies.
Please note this position is for Fall 2024.
Essential Functions
- Teaches a diverse population of students by incorporating multiple methods of instruction and assessment in a classroom and/or lab setting, online or hybrid, accelerated, and other alternative schedules and formats.
- Develops written syllabi/course materials, evaluates student knowledge of subject matter taught and maintains course grades, prepares and grades exams and other assignments.
- Maintains office hours to assist and advise students; develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual teaching skills required to maintain current with new trends and developments in the field of Anthropology through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars and/or workshops or through personal study and journal review; participates in developing new courses within the division and district; participates in Division, Campus and Districtwide committees and activities; participates in divisional activities; performs related duties commensurate to the level of the position.
1. A Master's Degree or higher in one of the following fields: Anthropology, Applied Anthropology, Archaeology, Social Cultural Anthropology, Forensic Anthropology, Physical Anthropology, Biological Anthropology, Medical Anthropology, Classics, Classical Archaeology, Near Eastern Archaeology, Egyptology, Maritime Archaeology
OR
2. A Master's Degree in any field with 18 graduate-level credits in these prefixes/subjects: Anthropology, History, Sociology, Biology
OR
3. A Master's Degree in any field with 18 graduate-level credits in courses with these keywords: Global, Ancient, Prehistoric, Precontact, Culture, Precolumbian, Biology, Evolutionary, Anatomy, Religion, History, Women, Gender, Queer, Indigenous, Ethnography, Ethnographic, New World, Old World, Near East, Africa, African, Mythology
