ANESTHESIOLOGIST

The University Of Iowa Department Of Anesthesia is seeking qualified anesthesiologists with interest and expertise in a variety of clinical areas to join our team. Opportunities are available in general anesthesia and several subspecialties, including Ambulatory, Cardiovascular/Thoracic, Neurosurgical, Obstetrical and Regional and Acute Pain Medicine. This is a clinical track appointment. The anesthesiologist will be responsible for actualizing our tripartite mission--clinical care, education, and research. These responsibilities include:

• Participating in team-based anesthesia care and personally providing anesthesia care


• Serving as a member of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating for effective patient outcomes


• Active participation in the academic activities of the Department and College of Medicine


• Supervising students, residents, fellows, SRNA’s and non-anesthesia rotators


• Providing developmental feedback to those under supervision, verbally and in writing


• Preparing educational materials, leading and/or attending academic lectures and professional development events


• Demonstrating commitment to promoting a diverse and inclusive team-based work environment


• Research activities are encouraged, though participation is not required for continued employment or promotion

• Qualified candidates must show successful completion of an approved residency program in anesthesiology


• Candidates must hold an MD, DO, or equivalent degree

• Candidates must be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Iowa


• Candidates must be board-certified in Anesthesiology (or non-US Board equivalent) or be in the certification process (pending completion of residency or fellowship). On occasion, individuals trained outside of the United States who are certified by an equivalent national certification group may be considered.


• Candidates must demonstrate experience working effectively in a diverse environment

  Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification

  
  

• Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience in any of the aforementioned subspecialty areas


• Interest in teaching and/or basic or clinical research
