Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
Serve as a senior level staff position in Project Financials & Systems. Primary duties include independently identifying and preparing highly complex analyses of financial data and presenting it to senior management. Position will independently identify improvements or automations to the project processes, independently document and implement the process change, and manage testing results with the Controller’s Office and FM IT. This position will assist in testing, implementation, and coordination of new system processes for operational improvements.
Position will become a system expert in the Integrated Work Management System (FMS/Asset Works), and Financial System KFS (Workday), and eBuilder and provide expertise to independently identify requirements and assist in testing and implementation of the new systems.
Position will continue to monitor, reconcile, and close out projects as needed by performing project data integrity analysis in the Integrated Work Management System FMS/Asset Works, KFS/Workday Financial System, and other internal systems (i.e. eBuilder) to assure accuracy.
Position will represent the unit in meetings and serve as the unit’s liaison with other campus units including the Controller’s Office, Environmental Safety Sustainability and Risk, Purchasing, and Planning and Construction. Position interacts with senior staff, Project Managers, Business Managers, IT staff, Central Accounting, and Controller’s Office.
The Senior Manager will delegate special projects to the analyst which will be completed independently, with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:
  • A minimum of 4-7 years of experience in an accounting or business operation.

Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply accounting and business principles and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of the university’s budgeting and accounting procedures, policies, and financial systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and convey results both verbally and in writing to management.
  • Ability to manipulate large data files through Pivot Tables, filters, sorts, etc.
  • Ability to document specifications for system development and perform testing.
  • Experience reconciling and correcting accounts.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet development, manipulation and analysis of electronic data.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, Internet, and email.
  • Ability to learn from and train others.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work with a diverse employee population.
  • Ability to relate with all levels of the campus community as well as the State agencies, auditors and vendors.
Preferences:
Preferences:
  • Experience in governmental accounting, project accounting, and large governmental systems is preferred.
  • Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred.
Additional Certifications:
Driver’s license not required; however, if driving a State vehicle, incumbent must possess a valid MD Class C driver’s license or equivalent with fewer than six (6) points.

The hiring range for this position is $77,640-$95,991.
