Job Description
Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC), located in Reno, Nevada, actively maintains a pool of qualified individuals to be selected from on an as needed basis by the department to fulfill part-time temporary instructional needs.
TMCC Humanities Department invites applications for an open pool of adjunct faculty in American Sign Language (ASL) to teach face-to-face, hybrid, or online.
This position requires:
Design of course material (syllabus, lectures, assignments, exams, etc.)
Teach an in-person or synchronous online section of the assigned course
Utilize LMS Canvas
Maintain regular communication with students, coordinators, and department chairs
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master's degree in a related area
• Evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, educational excellence, and mentoring undergraduate students
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ph.D. in a related area.
• Demonstrated commitment to active learning and innovative teaching
• Previous teaching experience
• Relevant industry experience
Responsibilities
Candidates must exhibit an appreciation of, a sensitivity to, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
The primary responsibility is to teach college-level and developmental courses. The position provides an opportunity for input into scheduling and course assignments.
Compensation: $952 per credit for standard credit courses.
Conditions of Employment
This is an on-going pool of qualified individuals interested in part-time, temporary non-tenure track instructional opportunities at Truckee Meadows Community College.
These opportunities are part-time only and will not be continued beyond the ending date. These opportunities may be terminated at will, at any time, for any reason, without notice; appointee has no appeal rights. Temporary assignments are not eligible for consideration for tenure as part of the assignment.
