Department Description

The Cal Aggie Alumni Association (CAAA) serves members and alumni of UC Davis in support of the campus and its mission. UC Davis has more than 300,000 alumni and more than 42,000 dues paying members. CAAA executes more than 125 events annually and engages thousands of alumni, parents, students, retirees, and emeriti. Attendees and volunteers include high-level donors, campus administrators, legislators, business, and community leaders which span the globe and support efforts of more than 40 alumni networks worldwide.

Development & Alumni Relations (DEVAR) provides leadership in building enduring public trust, understanding, and support for UC Davis and its mission of teaching, research, and public service. DEVAR provides leadership, coordination, and support services to help the university meet its mission of research, teaching, and service by building philanthropic support and executing approved fundraising programs that support the university’s highest priorities and initiatives.



Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor (AVC), responsible for comprehensive and independent management of programs which generate revenue and grow membership for the Cal Aggie Alumni Association. Oversees strategic coordination of revenue streams to meet annual goals. Provides advice and counsel relating to membership marketing, communications, business development and CAAA management strategies. Daily supervision of staff whose primary responsibility is supporting programs and facilities that generate revenue for the overall support of Alumni, student, and parent engagement.

4 WEEK RECRUITMENT PERIOD: Applicants will be screened after two weeks; and then on a weekly basis. Priority will be given for applications received by 4/23/2024 . The position can be filled prior to the removal date.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

·       Hybrid schedule available after 90 days if not currently employed within DEVAR.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education/Experience:

·       Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

·       Experience recruiting, training, evaluating, motivating, and coaching employees of various backgrounds and identities. Documented experience building a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion amongst team members.

·       Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in leading teams.

·       Management level experience in representing the interests, goals, objectives, and mission of a non-profit organization, including demonstrated interpersonal communication skills, public speaking, and articulating ideas clearly and distinctly to obtain and convey information accurately and precisely.

·       Experience as a senior level manager in making prudent and strategic decisions and taking appropriate action in situations where there may not be clearly established criteria or standards.

·       Experience establishing, overseeing, and evaluating collaborations and projects, and in developing support among both internal and external constituencies and commercial partners.

·       Experience in negotiation skills to resolve situations among and between vendors, members, volunteers, campus offices, and staff.

·       Experience leading teams within a hybrid work environment/schedule.
