Join the South Dakota State University (SDSU) Aviation Program as an Aircraft Mechanic and become an integral part of our team responsible for the inspection and maintenance of the SDSU training aircraft fleet. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist the Chief Aircraft Mechanic and Assistant Chief Aircraft Mechanic in the inspection and maintenance of the SDSU training aircraft fleet while maintaining aircraft under strict rules and regulations in place by the Federal Aviation Administration.
  • Perform and plan preventative aircraft maintenance.
  • Perform 100-hour inspections, annual inspections, progressive inspections, 50-hour inspections.
  • Maintain Federal Aviation Administration required records.
  • Guide students on the safety practices and procedures of the maintenance team and flight line.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Technical degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology or related field completed by first date of employment;
  • Aviation Maintenance Technician certification; 
  • Airframe and Powerplant Certification;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; and
  • Valid driver’s license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire, and willingness to travel.

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to earn FAA IA certification within two years of employment.
