Position Overview: Wisconsin's Polytechnic University seeks an innovative and enthusiastic Artificial Intelligence (AI) Integration Technologist to join our Learning Information Technology (LIT) team. The specialist will support faculty and staff with the integration of AI and Generative AI into instructional practices and help the university with its dynamic technology changes attributable to AI. The position will serve as a consultant for the university-wide AI coordination team and play a vital role in enhancing teaching and learning experiences, driving adoption and innovation of AI through professional development initiatives.
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated individual with a strong understanding of AI technologies, their potential applications in education and a growth mindset. They will be a skilled communicator and collaborator, able to bridge technical expertise and pedagogical needs. 

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • Knowledge of general AI principles, algorithms, and/or tools
  • Experience in the application of AI technologies, with a strong understanding of Generative AI  
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills  
  • Collaborates effectively with diverse stakeholders (such as faculty, staff, students, or external partners)
  • Ability to simplify technical concepts for non-technical audiences
  • Creative problem-solving abilities with a drive for innovation and continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated experience in staying current with emerging trends and technologies

Preferred

  • Master's Degree 
  • Strong understanding of copyright, intellectual property, and bias issues related to AI applications
  • Experience delivering high-quality training and professional development sessions to diverse audiences, preferably in an academic or instructional support context
  • Experience in the application of AI technologies in educational settings, and its potential impact on teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of pedagogical strategies and high impact practices

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Faculty Support: Collaborate and provide expert guidance to faculty and instructors across disciplines to identify opportunities for the integration of AI technologies and Generative AI into their teaching methods and course content. Provide ongoing support to faculty and instructors as they integrate AI and GAI into their courses. 
  • Professional Development: Develop and deliver educational resources, training workshops, seminars, and other professional development opportunities to the campus community on AI concepts, tools, and application. 
  • Innovation Leadership: Collaborate with academic departments, research centers and teaching & learning center to identify opportunities for innovation in AI-related projects and initiatives, fostering a culture of creativity and experimentation. 
  • Technology Adoption: Stay at the forefront of emerging AI technologies, trends, and resources, and advise on their integration into instructional practices while considering copyright, intellectual property, and bias implications. 
  • Policy and Compliance: Stay informed and provide guidance on AI-related policies, ethical considerations, and compliance requirements, ensuring alignment with institutional values and regulatory standards. 
  • Strategy: Collaborate with campus leadership and AI coordination committee to develop and implement a university-wide AI strategy. 

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION 

Learning Technology Services (LTS) is a unit with the Learning and Information Technology (LIT) department and serves as an instructional center focusing on teaching and learning for instructors of the University of Wisconsin-Stout community. Offering a range of services, LTS partners with faculty to provide expertise, training, and support to assist instructors with incorporating instructional technology into their teaching practice and creating technology-enhanced instructional materials.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Minimum annual starting salary of $70,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. UW System provides an excellent benefits package including participation in the Wisconsin State retirement plan, demonstrating our commitment to the diverse needs of our employees.
