Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
To assist Facility Management with animal care, milking, daily operations, general facility/equipment maintenance, cleaning and assistance with research projects under general supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Experience:
Three years in agricultural work, one year of which was in agricultural research.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Thorough knowledge of and skill in the use of farm equipment. 
  • General knowledge of and ability to use related laboratory equipment. 
  • General knowledge of basic mathematics and ability to perform mathematical and algebraic calculations. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
  • Ability to lift and transport agricultural supplies, tools, and equipment, to climb and to perform extensive standing and walking. 
  • Ability to wear and work in personal protective equipment. 
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.

Physical Demands
Ability to work in harsh work environment – excessive heat, cold, dirt & noise. Must be able to tolerate strenuous physical activity (lifting, shoveling, & leading recalcitrant cows) in adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift and transport agricultural supplies, tools, and equipment, to climb and to perform extensive standing and walking. Ability to wear personal protective equipment. Animal care requires weekend and holiday shifts as well as overtime as needed due to staffing shortages or scheduling conflicts.
