The Age-Friendly Innovation Center (AFIC) Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing community engagement related to on-going AFIC research and program implementation efforts. The Community Engagement Coordinator will collaborate with the AFIC Director, Director of Research, Assistant Director, and other staff and students to move forward the Safe Routes to Age in Place (SRTAIP) program and other community engaged research as funding allows. The Community Engagement Coordinator will establish and coordinate project activities, priorities, and goals. They will independently manage research projects, collect, and manage data, prepare reports and manuscripts and present findings from the center’s key performance indicator dashboard. Coordinator will lead relationship building with key stakeholders, such as elected officials, regional planning staff, mobility managers, and residents, that will be engaged in SRTAIP to ensure appropriate collaboration and recruitment efforts. Coordinator will identify ways to grow SRTAIP work, expanding programmatic and grant funding. Coordinator will be responsible for grant administration, including manage data, reporting for grant, and monitoring deliverables. This position requires regular travel to SRAIP sites, including various areas of Franklin County, Union County, Montgomery County, and Meigs County.  Research efforts will be occurring throughout the entire state of Ohio and coordinator will have to manage multiple on-going relationships and research efforts connected to all 88 counties. Coordinator will lead community focus groups and deploy state wide assessment related to older adults and transportation.

This position will manage on-going AFIC efforts that enhance SRTAIP, including efforts around housing, healthcare, inclusion, services, and ageism. This position will be expected to represent AFIC independently in the community and be responsible for outreach to the community and public speaking and serves on local, regional, state, and national advocacy and advisory boards and committees.  This position will increase the diversity, equity, and inclusion of older adults into local and statewide age-friendly innovation center, across all outreach, education, and research efforts.  Position requires experience and knowledge working on Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved research projects and Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) trainings completed.

The Age-Friendly Community Engagement Coordinator will be part of the Age-Friendly Innovation Center team with the College of Social Work. The mission of the Center is to innovate with older adults through research, education and engagement to ensure inclusion and build resiliency to make our communities age-friendly. The Center is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, community engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration. Independently engage students in AFIC and SRTAIP work.

This position is contingent on continuous external funding. If funding is not maintained, a decrease in staff and potential termination of the program are options.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 4 years of relevant experience required.

Desired Qualifications

Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.

Master's Level Degree with a Major in Social Work or a related field, two years of work experience with older adults and a minimum of two years of experience, that focus on program and policy development, grant administration-including grant submission and data collection processes, public speaking and community engagement with community leadership and elected officials. Experience with leading focus groups, community conversations, surveys, and other related assessment and evaluation tools. Professional licensure or Certificates, such as Age-Friendly Communities Certificate is preferred. Completed CITI trainings such as Human Subjects – Social and Behavioral Course and Responsible Conduct of Research. Experience with IRB protocols in a university setting.

The target hiring range is $ 53,800.00-$ 71,700.00 annually.  The actual salary will fall within this range based on the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, and the unit’s available budget.

Responsibilities

  • Independently coordinate SRTAIP research project including IRB submission, creating and deploying surveys and focus groups.
  • Lead relationship building for recruitment of SRTAIP, across the state of Ohio, connecting with mobility managers in all 88 counties.
  • Identify opportunities for growth and evolution of SRTAIP. including seeking out and applying for grant funding opportunities
  • Outreach to local and state community partners to coordinate education, problem-solving, including new program and policy development and serve on local, regional, state, and national advocacy and advisory boards and committees and build relationships with elected officials and non-elected government employees.
  • Will provide support to on-going AFIC initiatives that enhance SRTAIP outside of transportation, such as ageism, healthcare, Dementia-Friendly, DEI efforts.
