Description
This research focuses on developing new applications of high resolution/accurate mass (HRAM) mass spectrometry for exposure sciences and forensic analyses. HRAM mass spectrometry instrumentation has been pushed to the limits of mass detection to spectral resolutions over 100,000, allowing for specific mass determination and unknown compound identification. Analytical methods and novel data-processing tools need to be developed to embrace these new techniques and further elevate their capabilities. Instrumentation available for this research includes ion trap, Orbitrap, and time-of-flight mass spectrometric technologies. Research interests include (1) development of novel approaches for the non-target screening of environmental samples, (2) fundamental research of HRAM-MS technologies and affiliated hyphenated analysis techniques such as liquid chromatography coupled to HRAM-MS for chemical fingerprinting; (3) investigation of chemometric and other data analytical methods for the acquisition, handling, curation, and processing of HRAM mass spectral data.
