This position will collaborate with a cross-functional team and subject matter experts to design and develop effective professional learning opportunities that meet participant needs while applying best practices for effective, online adult learning. The ideal candidate has experience and knowledge of adult basic education instruction and is savvy and competent using multiple technologies in support of professional development. The position includes working primarily on projects supporting California based adult education. 

 

Candidates hired for the position must be based in California and may work remotely from home or from AIR’s Sacramento office.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the development of online learning content for the adult education specific projects with oversight of the task leads and project directors
  • Manage multiple tasks and activities with overlapping deadlines
  • Work as part of a team and independently to meet deadlines
  • Coordinate the delivery of online professional development such as: webinars, facilitated courses, self-directed courses and online self-assessments
  • Support the development of adult basic education course content for teachers and educators
  • Manage online course facilitators
  • Build and administer Learning Activities and Resources using Moodle or third-party applications
  • Travel to conferences for presentations and project support
  • Undertake such other tasks as needed


Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master's degree in education, instructional design, or related fields, or bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience providing instructional design or course content, specifically online course development
  • Previous experience with a Learning Management System (Moodle, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.) as an Administrator and course/content Designer
  • Previous work experience in adult basic education instruction and/or teaching online

 Skills:

  • Highly organized and detail oriented able to prioritize tasks to meet goals
  • Able to self-manage and communicate effectively with teammates to complete tasks and meet deadlines
  • Ability to build and administer learning activities and resources using Moodle or third-party applications
  • Proficiency in creating instructional products that incorporate audio and video
  • Take an active interest in new eLearning initiatives
  • Knowledge of California adult basic education system and programs
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.

AIR’s Total Rewards Program , is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission.  This position offers an anticipated hourly rate of $32.00 - $35.00.

Offers are made based on internal equity within the organization and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the salary for candidates that are based in the United States.
