Job Description

The Admissions Center is operational 24/7 365 days a year and serves as a critical hub for all inpatient activity managing patient flow for all inpatient beds across the center. The Admissions Representative serves a key role in several high functioning areas such as, bed placement, check-in, chart preparation, confirmation calling, training of admissions representatives, and works closely with the supervisor to ensure smooth operations across all areas. They will learn and understand all activity surrounding inpatient care and work with multiple levels of staff, contributing to the coordination of resources to ensure efficient coverage for all areas.


You Will:
  • Provide occasional support to Bedboard Coordinators, addressing requests for admissions, alerts, external transfers, and appropriate bed assignments using the electronic bed board.
  • Perform audits and analysis of various workflows and activities within the department of Admissions.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of training as-needed.
  • Collect deposits for private rooms and payments as it relates to patient financial services.
  • Assist clinicians with completing the N.Y.S. death certificate and related consents.
  • Print appropriate lists to determine proper admission times according to OR scheduling guidelines and call patients to notify time of admission.
  • Thoroughly explain inpatient admission documents and procedures to obtain required signatures from patients
  • Assist with the obtaining and reviewing authorizations\charts for surgical cases

You Have:
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting, familiarity with medical terminology and computer skills.
  • Requires excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassion and understanding needed to meet the needs of our patient population.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality.

#li-hybrid- Schedule - Flexibility to work weekends and/or various shifts when needed (e.g, 5 a.m.- 1p.m. or 11a.m. - 7p.m.).
