The Opportunity:

Are you personable and approachable with strong organization skills? The College of Journalism at the University of Florida is seeking an Admissions officer that values trust, respect, fairness, and customer service to join the Division of Graduate Studies.  

In this role, you will assist with recruitment, onboarding, management, and coordination of admissions for our in-residence graduate students. Looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively and effectively across divisions and in a culturally diverse environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.

Key duties:

  • Support recruitment for all in-residence master’s and Ph.D. students.
  • Understand all admissions requirements and serve as an expert communicator about all graduate program offerings including combination degree programs, faculty expertise, curriculum, and student opportunities.
  • Answer admissions inquiries in a timely manner with excellent customer service to support recruiting goals.
  • Manage applications and admissions process.
  • Communicate with prospects and applicants throughout application process.
  • Ensure completeness of application files.
  • Route applications to appropriate faculty for review and ensure timely faculty review of applications.
  • Ensure compliance and coordination with UF Graduate School on all aspects of application processing.
  • Track applicant, admission and enrollment data and prepares reports.
  • Maintain current knowledge of student support services including financial aid, career services and more.
  • Processes immigration visas for new and current students
  • Assist Director of Communications with event-based promotional products and arrange packing, shipping, and setup of displays.
  • Assists in Ph.D. applicant spring visitation
  • Coordinate new student orientation events.
  • Travel within and out of state and/or participates in online and in-person recruitment activities such as conducting information sessions at four-year colleges, graduate school fairs, and association meetings on and off-campus.
  • Track all recruitment-related expenses and follows university procurement rules.

Expected Salary:

$48,000 - $50,000 annually

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of UF policies and procedures, including purchasing, travel, student records, and other finance and accounting responsibilities. Prefer experience with PeopleSoft, UF Go, Enterprise Analytics, Slate, Pcard, SIS, and Salesforce. 
  • Able to work as a team and independently.
  • Able to work with large quantities of data.
  • Able to consolidate and summarize information.
  • Able to understand the value and concept of graduate education.
  • Incredibly detail oriented.
  • Strong customer service and persuasive speaking skills.
  • Able to operate strictly within processes and policies.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet and presentation software such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Powerpoint.
