Position Summary Information


Job Description Summary
The Dodge College Admissions Assistant & Tour Guide is often one of the first faces that prospective students and family will meet and can make a lasting, positive impact on a future student.
This position provides general admin/office support to the Dodge College Admissions team and great customer service to prospective students and families. They will also lead and guide in-depth tours of our facilities and speak about our programs and the admissions process.
Responsibilities
The Admissions student staff are representatives of Dodge College that assist both undergraduate and graduate prospective students and families with a positive, helpful attitude. This includes certain responsibilities such as:
  • Answering emails, phone calls and assisting visitors to the Admissions office or other areas of Dodge College and Chapman University.
  • They are responsible for any basic office duties or related admissions duties as assigned.
  • They will also be required to learn and know the application process, admissions requirements, and deadlines, as well as having extra knowledge of Chapman and Dodge College to help answer questions from prospective students.
  • Being responsible for learning and memorizing all aspects of Dodge College in order to give in-depth tours that include facility and program information, as well as their own experiences.
  • Assist with larger group tours, special events, and VIP guests as needed.
  • Being required to assist with prospective student outreach events such as, but not limited to, Preview Day and Discover Chapman Events, that may take place outside of regular office hours such as a weekend day or a weekday outside of regular business hours.
  • Being able to physically attend all required monthly student staff meetings, which may take place outside of business hours during week days.
Required Qualifications
  • Must maintain a professional appearance during shifts and a positive attitude when interacting with others.
  • Must possess competent computer skills and actively utilize both email and phone etiquette.
  • Must come to work on time, be well organized, dependable, and have strong oral & written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills.
  • Enjoy being a great storyteller and good at public speaking.
  • As a tour guide, you will be standing and walking for upwards of two hours and may occasionally be utilizing the stairs for tours. This position may also require walking between Dodge College and the main Chapman University campus to help transport guests.
  • English proficiency is a must, but it does not need to be the native language.
  • Must be available to work during Summer (June-August) and remain employed through the Fall semester.

Desired Qualifications
  • Have at least 10 hours of availability within business hours: Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm (including availability during at least 2 tours per week, 8am-11am).
  • Past customer service, receptionist or tour guide experience strongly preferred, but not required.
  • At least one full academic year (August-May) left at Chapman University strongly preferred.
  • Federal work study preferred, but not required.
  • Adaptable and capable of improvisation.
