Position Information

The Admission Specialist is responsible for recruitment and review of first-year and transfer applications, admitted student yield, relations with schools and community and family outreach. The position requires professionalism, skills in presenting information, attention to detail, the ability to collaborate - working in teams, and flexibility. Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director, the Admission Specialist is available to students, families, the campus community, and the general public to interpret, enforce and explain University policies and regulations. The Admission Specialist fosters and maintains good working relationships with the public, institutions and organizations involved in outreach recruitment as well as serves as a resource to the external community such as high school and community college counselors, and representatives from other universities. The Admission Specialist will independently represent Undergraduate Admissions to students at high schools and community colleges by providing oversight at various programs and events and participating in school visits, and college fairs. As needed, the incumbent will travel to recruit prospective and admitted students. The incumbent is responsible for all phases of admission eligibility evaluation of both freshman and transfer applicants based on self-reported information, official transcripts, and other pertinent documents. The Admission Specialist uses professional judgment and comprehensive knowledge of educational processes, including acceptance of transfer coursework from domestic institutions in determining whether applicants meet requirements for admission. The incumbent is expected to perform with a high level of professionalism as a representative of UC Riverside and the University of California among many constituencies, oftentimes conveying complicated and/or sensitive information.

The budgeted hourly/salary range for this position is $59,000.00 - $70,100.00

For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is eight weeks after their first date of employment.

Must successfully complete a background check through the University's background check agency prior to your start date, and a fingerprint check through the Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations.

Minimum Requirements

Thorough knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations, and other institutions.
Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of academic programs, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs, at colleges/universities and specifically at UC, and/or specific colleges and schools.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures to prospective students and the public.
Skill in listening, anticipating, and responding to the needs of customers to achieve excellent customer service measured by outcomes rather than activities.
Ability to effectively manage a large volume of undergraduate admission applications and multiple programs in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
Skill in organizing and setting priorities that accurately reflect the importance of the job responsibilities.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to develop recruitment programs, and design effective materials.

Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate statistical data and policy related to Undergraduate Admissions metrics.

Knowledge of UC admissions practices and procedures, including undergraduate evaluations and transfer credit policies.
