Required Qualifications & Experience : Equivalent to four years of general office experience, which includes operational or procedural administrative support work performed and/or ongoing work coordination and/or lead responsibilities with notable accountability for the work results of support staff or unit administrative function. The incumbent must have the experience to be fully functional in all technical aspects of work assignments and thorough knowledge of office productivity software, including word processing, desktop publishing, and spreadsheet and database functions. Familiarity with the university network system. The incumbent should have working knowledge of budget policies and procedures, track financial data, and make simple projections. The incumbent must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and thorough English grammar, punctuation, and spelling knowledge; and thorough analytical skills. The incumbent must have the ability to work effectively individually, as a member of a highly functional team, and with a broad range of people to help promote a student-centered environment; detail-oriented and can handle multiple work unit priorities and projects; apply various policies and independent procedures where specific guidelines may not exist; judgment, discretion, and initiative to address problems and respond to all inquiries and requests related to the work areas, as well as the ability to analyze operational and procedural problems and develop, recommend, and evaluate proposed solutions; respond effectively to rapidly changing conditions; effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts, including those at higher levels and those sensitive in nature; and to collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and administrators to resolve problems and generate future solutions. The incumbent must have a demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the California State University. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current California State University employees who may apply for the position.
