Job/Department Summary:

Under general supervision of the department chair, incumbent works independently providing essential front line administrative support to the History Department on the CSU, Chico campus (20 faculty members and 2-3 student assistants), providing continuity and stability to the central department office. Duties include administrative support for: department budgets; curriculum, enrollment and scheduling; faculty appointment and recruitment and provides lead work direction to student assistants. Incumbent acts as the first point of contact for the department, providing customer service to students, visitors and the campus community at large.

Required Education and Experience:

This position requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices, as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. These qualifications, and those listed above, would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program, technical/vocational program, or their equivalents combined with three years of related office work experience.

Preferences:

Preference may be given to applicants with the following as they may be considered specialized skills: 

  • Bilingual
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in an office environment.
  • Experience working with University systems:  PeopleSoft (CMS modules in HR, Finance and Student) or similar software, Insight, or similar software, CDD.net Foundation, budget applications, on-line purchasing, scheduling, student registration, and other web-based programs.
  • Experience tracking and maintaining a complex budget that includes projections.
  • Experience with curriculum, faculty workload, course scheduling, and working with a diverse student and faculty population.

Pay Plan: 11/12

Work Schedule: Mon-Fri 8:00am-5:00pm, Summer - Mon-Thurs 7:00-5:30. 

CSU Classification Salary Range:  $42,060 - $66,096 per year.
