Organizational Unit Overview
The Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development promotes excellence in medical education at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine through the professional and leadership development of faculty in all their roles – teachers, scholars, researchers, clinicians, scientists, and administrators – and throughout the lifecycle of their career, from onboarding to retirement.
The various programs held by The Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development or offered through collaboration with other ECU offices include programming on teaching and assessment, wellness, career development, research and writing support, and reappointment, tenure, promotion. We facilitate the onboarding process through New Faculty Orientation and one-on-one entrance interviews for new faculty. We run a yearly junior faculty mentoring program (Mentoring Advice Program), a book club and programming for Medical Education Day. We facilitate the Master Educator Award process and provide support for nomination/application to other University and non-university award processes. We celebrate faculty through our quarterly newsletter, our monthly Above and Beyond, Alumni Spotlight, and our social media.
We provide support in resolving faculty inquiries and concerns, and we provide support for recruitment and retention of excellent faculty.
For departing faculty, we offer an exit interview. Our office also supports teaching opportunities for retired physicians.
The Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development also promotes excellence in medical education at ECU’s Brody School of Medicine through the professional and leadership development of staff, students, and administrators.
Job Duties
Brody School of Medicine’s Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development is currently seeking to hire a full-time Administrative Support Associate to join its team. The primary purpose of this position is to support the Director and two programming coordinators in the development and implementation of the Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development’s plans and policies.
Specific duties include:
  • Assist participants with program registration online.
  • Assist in managing calendars and arranging meetings for the office.
  • Schedule onboarding and exit interviews.
  • Facilitate resource consultation requests.
  • Maintain and develop content for the Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development. website and OFALD’s social media platforms and communications.
  • Utilize Banner administrative function for pulling budget and pulling the BIC report for new hires.
  • Use Chrome River administrative function for purchasing and travel for OFALD and Brody Women Faculty Committee.
  • Track program participation and recognizes need for adjustments.
  • Coordinate all administrative functions with programming, i.e.: catering, room reservations, IT support, communication to participants, perform CME coordination function for MAP, Medical Education Day, BSOM Teaching Conference, and others as needed, support of committees and programming as needed.
  • Management of budget proposals for programming in Office of Faculty Affairs and Leadership Development and Brody Women Faculty Committee (BWFC).
  • Plan, create, and publish the Monthly Above & Beyond spotlight and Notable Alumni spotlights and collaborate to create quarterly newsletters.
  • Assist with new faculty orientation and onboarding initiatives, including pulling daily Banner report for onboarding faculty and verifying monthly reports with ECUP.
  • Provide guidance for program activities including outreach, volunteer coordination and partnerships development.
  • Stay informed of faculty and leadership development initiatives.
  • Ensure evaluative feedback is completed to continually improve the faculty development programs.
  • Assist Director with Faculty180 requests/consultations.
  • Assist Director with Five-Year Review process.
  • Assist Director with Chairs Yearly Survey process.
  • Help analyze program effectiveness and revise as necessary, developing new approaches and recommending changes to improve programming processes.
  • Help identify and provide resources to adapt processes/procedures.
  • Help identify trends and making recommendations.
  • Able to provide service/answers to clients.
  • Support programming, including MAP; MeRG; Medical Education Day; Teaching Conference; BSOM Leadership Academy; various award processes, including Master Educator, Scholar-Teacher, and Educator of Distinction.
  • Serve as the OFALD Lending Library’s librarian. Duties include using tinycat software to check books in and out, add new titles to the digital library, purchase new books as requested and as budget allows
  • Order supplies as needed for the office.
  • Arrange for repairs/maintenance as needed.
  • Assist with travel and reimbursements for OFALD, as well as BWFC.
  • Manage some of the day-to-day activities.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point). Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
